ATTRACTIONS/THINGS TO DO -
Whether you are a keen sportsperson, a heritage buff, a conservationist, a lover of fine food and wine, someone who enjoys the arts, a shopaholic, or you simply desire to unwind, relax and recharge the batteries in a beautiful place, Kangaroo Valley has something for you.
Some activities to consider are:
Golfing, bushwalking, canoeing, horse riding, tennis, cycling/mountain biking, swimming, or picnic on the river bank, or Tallowa Dam or Bendeela picnic areas, enjoy the array of flora, fauna and the unique panoramic scenery of this National Trust listed most beautiful valley.
In the village itself you will find galleries; cafes and restaurants; art, craft and antique shops; nurseries; and numerous National Trust listed buildings and places of historic significance including the Hampden Bridge (the oldest suspension bridge in Australia which was opened in 1898), or take a trip back in time to the valley’s past at the Pioneer Farm Museum.
Why not take a drive to our local award winning winery and sample some wine; visit Cambewarra Lookout and Tearooms (known for its yummy Devonshire teas, and you may even see some hang gliders in action) where one has a magnificent view over rural farmlands, the Shoalhaven River and out to the coast; or visit Fitzroy Falls visitor centre in the Morton National Park where you can view its wonderful display of native wildlife and things Australian, have a snack, or enjoy some magnificent scenery while bushwalking or viewing the falls.
Berry, "The Town of Trees", well known for its fine shopping, its Country Fair on the first Sunday of every month, its Heritage buildings and its Garden Festival is just a short half hour drive away (although you will want to stop now and then to admire some of the breathtaking panoramic views).
Nowra with its Animal Park by the Shoalhaven River, Museum of Flight, River Cruises, Meroogal Cottage and Bundanon (Arthur Boyd's Gift to the Nation) is only 25 minutes drive.
Within an hours drive from Kangaroo Valley there are many places of interest such as the villages of the southern highlands including Bowral, Berrima, Bundanoon, Robertson, Exeter; the seaside villages of Gerringong, Kiama and Jervis Bay including Huskisson and Hyams Beach; or the Jamberoo/Minamurra Rainforest area.
Kangaroo Valley is situated between the mountains and the sea and is the perfect spot to use as a base for your holiday.
